Your WebNesting account is the key to everything you build. This guide walks you through signing in, protecting your account, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Logging In to Your Account

  1. Go to your site's login page by adding your admin path to your site address (for example: yoursite.webnesting.site/sandbox).
  2. Enter your email address in the first field.
  3. Enter your password in the second field.
  4. If you want to stay signed in, check the Remember Me box.
  5. Click the Login button.

You will be taken to your dashboard after signing in.

Tip: If you check "Remember Me," you won't need to enter your password every time you visit. Only use this on devices you trust.

Changing Your Password

If you want to update your password, you can do so from your account security page.

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Account Security in your settings.
  3. Enter your new password.
  4. Confirm your new password by typing it again.
  5. Save your changes.

Your new password must be at least 6 characters long.

Tip: Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols to create a strong password. Avoid using the same password you use on other websites.

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

What Is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. When 2FA is turned on, signing in requires two things:

  • Something you know -- your password.
  • Something you have -- a temporary code from your phone or email.

Even if someone learns your password, they still can't get into your account without that second code. We strongly recommend turning on 2FA.

Choosing a 2FA Method

WebNesting offers two ways to receive your verification code:

  • Authenticator app -- A free app on your phone generates a new code every 30 seconds. This is the most secure option.
  • Email code -- A 6-digit code is sent to your email address each time you sign in. This code expires after 10 minutes.

You can enable one or both methods. If you have both enabled, you can pick which one you prefer to use at sign-in.

How to Enable 2FA with an Authenticator App

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Account Security.
  3. Under the Authenticator App section, click Generate QR Code.
  4. Open your authenticator app on your phone (see suggestions below).
  5. Use the app to scan the QR code shown on screen.
  6. Your app will begin displaying a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds.
  7. Type that code into the Verification Code field on the WebNesting page.
  8. Click Confirm to finish setup.

You will see a confirmation message once the authenticator app is connected.

Tip: If you can't scan the QR code, look for the text code shown below it. You can type that code into your authenticator app manually instead.

Recommended Authenticator Apps

Any authenticator app will work. Here are some popular free options:

  • Google Authenticator (iPhone and Android)
  • Microsoft Authenticator (iPhone and Android)
  • Authy (iPhone, Android, and Desktop)

How to Enable 2FA with Email

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Account Security.
  3. Under the Email section, click Enable.

That's it. The next time you sign in, a 6-digit code will be sent to your email. Enter that code to complete your sign-in.

Tip: Check your spam or junk folder if you don't see the email within a minute. The code expires after 10 minutes, so enter it promptly.

Signing In with 2FA

Once 2FA is turned on, the sign-in process adds one extra step:

  1. Enter your email and password as usual and click Login.
  2. You will see a verification screen asking for a code.
  3. Get your code:
    • If using an authenticator app: Open the app on your phone and find the current 6-digit code.
    • If using email: Check your inbox for an email with your 6-digit code.
  4. Type the code into the Verification Code field.
  5. Click Verify.

If you have both methods enabled, you will see a link to switch between them. For example, if the page asks for your authenticator code, you can click Use email code instead to get a code by email.

Tip: If your email code doesn't arrive, click the Resend Code button at the bottom of the verification page to get a fresh code.

Setting Your Preferred 2FA Method

If you have both the authenticator app and email codes enabled, you can choose which method appears first when you sign in.

  1. Go to Account Security.
  2. Find the method you want to use by default.
  3. Click the option to set it as your preferred method.

You can always switch to the other method on the sign-in screen, but your preferred choice will be shown first.

What to Do If You Lose Access to Your 2FA

When you set up the authenticator app, WebNesting generates 8 recovery codes. These are one-time-use backup codes that let you sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app or email.

To use a recovery code:

  1. On the 2FA verification screen, click Use a recovery code.
  2. Enter one of your saved recovery codes.
  3. Click Verify.

Each recovery code can only be used once. After using one, it is removed from your list. Store your recovery codes in a safe place, such as a password manager or a printed copy in a secure location.

To generate new recovery codes:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Account Security.
  3. Click Regenerate Recovery Codes.
  4. Save the new codes in a safe place. Your old codes will no longer work.

Tip: Write down your recovery codes or save them in a secure place as soon as you see them. If you lose both your authenticator and your recovery codes, you will need to contact support to regain access.

Turning Off 2FA

If you no longer want to use two-factor authentication:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Account Security.
  3. To turn off just one method, click the disable button next to the method you want to remove (for example, Disable Authenticator App or Disable Email 2FA).
  4. To turn off 2FA entirely, click Disable Two-Factor Authentication at the bottom of the page.

Tip: We recommend keeping at least one 2FA method turned on to protect your account.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

What Is SSO?

Single Sign-On lets you move between your site dashboard and your WebNesting account without entering your password again. When SSO is available, one sign-in gives you access to both.

Think of it like a master key: you sign in once, and WebNesting handles the rest behind the scenes.

How SSO Works

SSO happens automatically. Here is what to expect:

  1. Sign in to your site dashboard as usual.
  2. When you need to visit your WebNesting account (for example, to manage billing or account-wide settings), click the link to your WebNesting account.
  3. You will be signed in automatically -- no need to enter your password again.

The connection is secure and expires quickly, so it can't be reused by anyone else.

Signing In with SSO from WebNesting

You can also go the other direction. If you are signed in to your WebNesting account, you can jump to any of your site dashboards without signing in again.

Tip: SSO only works when your accounts are linked. If you are asked to sign in again, your session may have expired. Simply sign in with your email and password.

Logging Out

To sign out of your account:

  1. Look for the Logout option in your dashboard menu.
  2. Click Logout.

You will be returned to the login page. If you checked "Remember Me," you may still need to click Logout to fully end your session.

Tip: Always log out when using a shared or public computer to keep your account safe.

What to Do If You Forget Your Password

If you can't remember your password, you can reset it by email.

  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click the Forgot Password link (next to the Login button).
  3. Enter the email address you use for your account.
  4. Click Send Password Reset Link.
  5. Check your email inbox for a message from WebNesting.
  6. Click the reset link in the email.
  7. Type your new password.
  8. Type your new password once more in the Confirm Password field.
  9. Click Reset Password.

You will be signed in automatically with your new password.

Tip: The reset link is sent to the email on file for your account. If you don't see it within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder. If you still can't find it, make sure you are entering the same email address you used to create your account.

Keeping Your Account Secure

Here are some simple things you can do to protect your WebNesting account:

  • Turn on 2FA. This is the single best thing you can do to secure your account. Even one method (app or email) makes a big difference.
  • Use a strong, unique password. Avoid short passwords or ones you use on other sites. A good password is at least 8 characters and includes a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Don't share your password. If someone else needs access to your site, add them as a team member with their own account instead of sharing your login.
  • Log out on shared devices. If you sign in from a computer that other people use, always log out when you are done.
  • Keep your email secure. Your email is used for password resets and email-based 2FA codes. If your email account is compromised, your WebNesting account could be at risk too.
  • Save your recovery codes. If you use 2FA, store your recovery codes somewhere safe, like a password manager or a printed copy in a secure location.
  • Watch for suspicious activity. If you receive a password reset email you didn't request, or notice sign-ins you don't recognize, change your password right away and contact support.
